The Sculptured Rocking Chair exudes beauty and grace and cradles your body like no other chair. The design pays homage to the legendary woodworker, Sam Maloof. This rocker is constructed of beautiful Virginia Black Walnut and African Blackwood.
This chair requires several hundred hours to complete. The first part of the project is designing the rocker to the size and needs of the client. It is then milled and assembled with complex, hand-cut joinery. The chair then moves to the sculpting process where it is hand shaped to create flowing lines and blended joinery. The final step is the finish which includes 7 coats of oil and wax which results in a velvet feel to the chair that begs to be touched.
